PROJECT RESEARCH
The project is perfectly positioned between two contrasts: on one side, the serene Bosche Broek lake and lush nature; on the other, a nearby road. To keep things quiet and visually clean, that side is closed off with a soundproof wall. Meanwhile, the lake-facing side is all glass flooding the space with light and framing the view.
REFERENCE PROJECT
From the beginning, I had a clear vision: organic shapes, a green roof to blend with the environment, and a full glass wall to open up the view. You can see all of these elements come together in the reference project shown.
MOODBOARD
The design blends modern architecture with nature. Clean lines and large glass surfaces connect the exterior to its surroundings, while warm tones like beige and brown inside add a cozy, earthy contrast to the sleek structure balancing minimalism with warmth.
FLOORPLAN & ELEVATIONS
For this project, I used SketchUp along with the LayOut app to print out all the elevations. I then traced them by hand a super fun and insightful process where I learned a lot of new skills. I also created the floor plan myself, which really helped me understand and visualize the design in detail.
AUTOCAD
I first created the elevations in SketchUp and printed them out using LayOut, then traced them by hand an enjoyable and insightful process. Later, I brought the linework into AutoCAD to create a clean, digital version of my handmade drawings. I also designed the floor plan myself, combining both analog and digital techniques to fully understand and refine the project.
EVOLUTION METAL CONSTRUCTION
Throughout the process, I tested different types of metal poles to find the right balance between strength and cost. I also did calculations to ensure structural stability and optimize material use. The result is a clean, efficient design that supports the glass façade and green roof with minimal visual weight.
